Therapeutic (holistic) massage

The word 'holistic' derives its root name from the Greek word "holo" meaning whole. This form of treatment takes into consideration the balance of whole being, mind, body and spirit. It does not just focus on the symptom or ailment alone.

How it works

Our bodies can be affected by everything we undertake in our daily lives. We can suffer symptoms of stress from our personal relationships, working environment, or being under pressure due to life's demands. Leading busy and rushed lives can lead to us feeling tired, exhausted, stressed and anxious.

These issues can sometimes cause us to become unbalanced and can induce energy blockages that can result in us feeling unwell and bring about any number of health conditions.

The aim of this complementary therapy is to establish the cause of your problem or ailment. It might originate from an internal or external source and the purpose of holistic massage is to rebalance the body.

Benefits

  • Improved circulation — improves blood flow and movement of nutrients and oxygen to the cells throughout the body, and encourages the removal of toxins and waste from the cells.
  • Respiration — reducing tensions in the chest, shoulders and back can assist removing congestion in the lungs, aiding respiratory conditions.
  • Pain reduction — stimulating the body to release natural painkillers into the brain and nervous system.
  • Muscles — stretches and loosens muscle, helping improve mobility, reducing lactic acid and toxins, and consequently reducing stiffness and fatigue.
  • Anxiety and stress reduction — a very relaxing therapy that reduces tension and the effects of stress. It relaxes the mind, reduces anxiety, and lifts the spirits on an emotional level, increasing positive feelings.
  • Energy — it is usual to feel more energetic after a treatment because tension is released and energy is flowing more freely.
