Medical Acupuncture
Relieving pain and restoring balance

Medical acupuncture

This technique uses a "dry" needle — one without medication or injection — inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle known as trigger points.

Acupuncture is offered for muscular conditions that would otherwise require deep tissue massage which may cause inflammation or occasionally aggravate the condition. The needles are able to get deeper into the tight 'knots' of muscle and aid muscle relaxation as well as ease the pain.

How it works

It can be effective for relieving musculoskeletal pain as well as rheumatic or arthritic-type pain. There is good evidence in support of its effectiveness in relieving pain and releasing tight muscles.

Conditions treated

Conditions that may respond to acupuncture include:

  • Repetitive strain injuries (tennis and golfer's elbow)
  • Acute back and neck pain
  • Muscular aches
  • Sports injuries
  • Some arthritic conditions
