Chinese cupping massage
Cupping is an ancient traditional Chinese method (dating back to 1550 BC) of alleviating congestion and stagnation of blood flow. It is a safe, comfortable and effective treatment for many health conditions. Cupping can help alleviate pain, decrease swelling, increase range of movement and speed up healing processes. Clients of this service have also reported a reduction of chronic migraines.
By creating a vacuum above the surface of the tissues, pressure is decreased on the tissues themselves, allowing the connective tissue to be lifted upwards, thus changing the pressure on tissue structures such as nerves, capillaries and muscle fascia.
The main principle behind Chinese Cupping Massage is to aid the removal of blood stagnation:
- Food stagnation — can cause abdomen problems like constipation or diarrhoea.
- Fluid stagnation — can cause oedema in the hands and feet.
- Qi (energy) stagnation — can cause pain and depression.
